The Clinic is a joint project of Drak Theatre and the International Institute of Figurative Theatre, in cooperation with the Department of Drama in Education at DAMU. Since 2018, it has offered students of artistic disciplines a unique opportunity to connect their studies with real-world theatrical practice within a functioning theatre environment.

The project is inspired by the concept of “clinical workplaces” commonly used in medical and educational faculties. During a one-week residency, students become actively involved in the theatre’s operation, gaining experience through shadowing, teamwork, workshops with Czech and international lecturers, and by developing their own creative projects under professional guidance.

The project’s goals are to enhance the quality of arts education, support interdisciplinary and international collaboration, and develop innovative teaching methods that integrate theory and practice.

Methods applied within Klinika:

  • Shadowing (field assistance): Direct participation in the theatre’s daily activities, observation, and feedback.

  • Collaboration with Drak professionals: Assistance with specific tasks, problem-solving, mentoring.

  • Workshops led by Czech and international tutors: Practical seminars focused on various theatrical skills.

  • Development of original student projects: Research and creative work rooted in local context and relevant themes.
