Gaudeamus Theatrum 2026 – Puppets and Memory
What do the things around us remember? What stories are carried by the objects we pass every day, and how can they become vessels of personal and collective memory? The international project Gaudeamus Theatrum 2026 opens a space for a shared search for answers through object and puppet theatre, movement, image, and performative imagination.
Under the guidance of three distinctive figures of contemporary theatre — Dora Bouzková, Husam Abed and Andrea Díaz Reboredo — students will embark on a journey between memory, material, and living presence. Each of the mentors brings a unique artistic language: from puppet and community theatre through physical and socially engaged creation to visual and scenographic approaches that connect object, space, and audience in a shared dialogue.
The international workshop will bring together students from Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Stuttgart, Accademia Dimitri, and the Department of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at DAMU. Through an intensive creative encounter, a collective stage work will emerge as the result of shared experience, diverse cultural perspectives, and bold experimentation.
The outcome of this collaboration will be presented on Saturday, 14 March 2026 at 6:00 pm at Drak Theatre.
The participation of the Spanish lecturer Andrea Díaz Reboredo is supported by funds from the Embassy of Spain in the Czech Republic.
