Drak Theatre is part of the international project 3Place – Performing Arts as the Third Place for the Young Audience, supported by the Creative Europe programme for the period 2023–2025. The project focuses on the development of performing arts for young audiences and poses a central question: Can theatre serve as a “third place” – alongside home and school – where young people feel welcome, safe, and free?
Together with partners from Norway (Scenekunstbruket, Kloden Teater) and Germany (Junges Ensemble Stuttgart), Drak Theatre explores new approaches that respond to the needs of teenage audiences. The project investigates the concept of the “third place” on three levels.

  • 3Place Physical – how to create or adapt the physical space of a theatre so that young people feel at home,

  • 3Place Artistic – how to design artistic experiences that speak to them and draw them in,

  • 3Place Involve – how to involve young audiences so they feel represented and included.

Each of these areas is developed through thematic camps, festival visits, online workshops, and continuous work within each partner organisation. Drak Theatre is responsible for the artistic component of the project, building on its existing activities for high school audiences, such as the Drak+ programme.

The collaboration with international partners brings valuable exchange of experience, the joint development of new methodologies, and strengthens the role of theatre as an open and inclusive space for both young audiences and the artists who wish to engage with them.
